About Us

Welcome to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Frank T. Carvill Division 7 – New York County,
based in midtown Manhattan. As one of the most active divisions in the state—and the
country—we’re proud of our strong tradition of charity and community, supporting both our
neighbors and the wider Irish community.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians was founded in 1836 at the Church of St. James, in
Manhattan’s famous Five Points District. Division 7 is one of the oldest and largest AOH
divisions in America. In the 1879 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, we were the largest in attendance,
marching with over 450 proud Irish Americans. Today, we still celebrate our heritage, with
nearly 100 active members.

Our members volunteer at soup kitchens, food pantries, Catholic schools, and events like
Wreaths Across America, where we honor American war heroes at the Basilica of St. Patrick on
Mott Street. Our biggest charitable event is the annual Irish Cruise of New York Harbor,
sponsored by Division 7 every June.

Our biggest charitable event is the annual Irish Cruise of New York Harbor, sponsored by Division 7 every June. The Irish Cruise brings together over 600 Irish and Irish Americans each year for a night of music, culture, and celebration while touring New York Harbor.

All proceeds support the Emerald Isle Immigration Center, which provides essential services to New York’s Irish immigrant community as well as many other nationalities. We are proud to help further their mission.

Interested in joining Division 7? Contact us using the link below or stop by Ernie O’Malley’s Pub at 140 E 27th Street in Manhattan between 6–7 PM on the first Tuesday of the month. You’ll be welcome to meet our members and learn more about our division before the meeting begins. (Meetings are for sworn members only.)

Division 7 meets at Ernie O’Malley’s Irish Pub on the first Tuesday of each month, except July and August. The pub’s owner, Dublin-born Joe Byrne, is an honorary member and regularly hosts AOH events and lectures throughout the year, including the AOH’s Freedom for All Ireland events.
